Getting a bit more on track.
Finally set up my CAMP. A bit basic, but it'll do. Found out our missing kid got sent to a Vault somewhere. Didn't find out which and no follow-up past that. I was a bit disappointed - no Vault exploring. Finished up the Cold Case quest and took some better pictures of the waterpark. I also happen on a party of Scorched that 'spawned' from the toilets.
Back to the prison for a little radio side quest. I say 'little' but I spent way too much time in this maze of a place trying to activate turrets. I did pick up a power-armor frame in the shop. Still not knowledgeable to actually equip the armor pieces yet.
Continuing my Responder training, I learn how to 'make camp' from a dad-joke telling robot named Fluffy. Upon picking up some stuff for Mr fluffy, the first Schorchbeast I've seen swoops by. So glad it didn't see me. I get caught in an event to defend a cargobob, and got a few stimpack from the deal. Probably not really worth the time. I finish the camp quest and level up enough to get the cannibal perk. I can now feast on humanoid corpses. Delicious and rad-filled.
Start trucking my way down to Charleston to continue my Responder training. I had a note about a research lab in the city, so I set off. On my way down to Charleston, I help defend a tea-company from some bugs and get some tasty brew from the deal. After running around the city collecting blood samples and looking in awe at the half-ruined city, I find myself in an old lab with the ingredients to inoculate myself from the Scorched virus. It seemed a bit too easy, but after stepping in a (very shady) device I BECOME IMMUNE.
Now, for my last step in becoming an elite Responder i need to take the Fire Breather exam. First a computer test at the fire station, then a short running time trial, and then the Final Exam in the mines. I was issued a special Scorched-killing pistol from a Mr. Handy, and set off into a fiery hellhole. I'm feeling sorry for the candidates before me. They got so far, but din't make it out of that dungeon. I'm starting to have more respect for the Responders, especially the Fire Breathers. They really were trying the best they could.
Taking a break from the loss of good people, I towards to an interesting marker on my map. It leads me to Hornwright Industries, a mining company that is trying to put AMS (their rival) out of business. Upon entering, I'm locked out of some areas, so proceed to forge my credentials as a Senior Executive. Not hard considering the hiring system is automatic. I get my new ID card as well as access to the penthouse suite. There I come across an interesting AI with human-like inflection in their voice. They are sad, hurt and wanting a person called "Danny". Scour the Terminals and learn about some corporate espionage and then dispense myself a beacon in the lab. With my newfound info and beacon I head to the basement where. WOAH a huge digger (the motherload) pops up from the ground. It then promptly, and surprisingly vanishes as quickly as it showed up, leaving me with some neat loot. At first I ras really excited about this quest. It seemed like it was going to take me places, and find an interesting AI but in the end I just went up and down HWI (admittedly very cool) office.
Time to wrap it up for now. I'm having major inventory issues, even using CAMP. It turns out your Stash only has 400lb of space, so I'm stuck 'bulking' junk and selling it to vendors. I don't even have room for storing a full of power-armor. I must just be a super-hoarder.
I go to bed a Full-fledged, corporate spy & Fire Breather.
